Update Property Listing Information

This is the page where you add or modify the textual property listing information. When details have been entered, click ‘Save Changes’ to store the information.

Area: The area of the city in which the property is located. You are free to use any description you choose, but it is recommended that you be consistent within your listings. This information is displayed only if this field is entered on the ‘Extra Options’ page as one of the ‘Fields to show in listing headers’.

Address: The street name and number of the property. You can leave this blank if you prefer, but if you enter it the system will provide visitors to your site with a link to a map showing the location of the property. This information is displayed only if this field (street) is entered on the 'Extra Options' page as one of the 'Fields to show in listing headers'. Be careful to enter your addresses exactly in order for the Mapquest software to be able to map the location properly. If you encounter any trouble with the link, try going directly to Mapquest and work with the address there. (Sometimes Mapquest is picky about how you specify the address.)

City, Prov or State, and Country: These fields are pre-filled with the data, which you entered on your 'Agent Account' screen. The information can be changed or removed on this page. This data does not display on View Listings, but can be used to sort listings on 'Update Listings' page. These fields are also used by Mapquest to display the location of your listing. We have noticed that Mapquest is sometimes behind recent changes to municipality names. We recommend that you test the mapping facility for each of your listings in order to ensure that the address has been properly entered for retrieval purposes.

Property type: Duplex, condo, etc. You can use whatever short descriptive text you feel is most appropriate. This information appears on both the summary and detail pages.

Price: Numbers only, with decimal places if appropriate. This information is displayed only if this field is entered on the 'Extra Options' page as one of the 'Fields to show in listing headers'.

sortkey: The sortkey can be used by the agent to change the default order in which the listings are presented. The default value of the sortkey is 999. If you enter any value less than 999 as the sortkey value, it will cause that listing to display before any listings with a greater value.

Listing Status: You can select any status from the list. Should you feel that additional statuses are required, please email admin@houseflash.com. This information is displayed on the ‘View Listings’ summary pages for all list types.

The status of ‘invisible’ allows you to save the information entered, but prevent clients from viewing the listing until it is completed. When you are ready to release the listing for public viewing, you then change the status to the one appropriate for that listing.

Status Date: The effective date of the selected status. When the listing status is changed, this field should be modified as well to reflect the new status effective date. This date is not displayed to the public so it is for your administrative use only.

MLS number: This field is not intended to be shown to members of the public. However, you can choose to enter it so that you have it available when you review a listing.

Title: This field can be used for a quick description of the property. This information is displayed only if this field is entered on the ‘Extra Options’ page as one of the ‘Fields to show in listing headers’.

Summary: This field can be used for a summary description of the property. It is displayed on the 'View Listings' Summary and Detail pages if you chose Y on the 'Extra Options' page in answer to 'Show summary description'. The information will display in bold or regular font, depending on your choice on the 'Extra Options' page. If you need to get fancier with the formatting, check out our help on Extra Text Formatting Options.

More detailed description: This field can be used for a detailed description of the property. It is displayed on the 'View Listings' Summary and Detail pages if you chose Y on the 'Extra Options' page in answer to 'Show detailed description'. The information will display in bold or regular font, depending on your choice on the 'Extra Options' page. If you need to get fancier with the formatting, check out our help on Extra Text Formatting Options.

Virtual Tour Link: If you have made arrangements to have a virtual tour created for the property, you can enter the link to that tour here. The link is the web address where that tour can be found, and will normally begin with 'www'. When you enter this link, HouseFlash will automatically include an icon with the display of the property listing that says 'Virtual Tour' (similar to the automatic 'Map It' icon).
